Sky Mirror at the Rockefeller Center

This is a collage of five or six almost identical photos, most of them in black and white. The picture shows a fish-eye type reflection of a NY street on the back side of Anish Kapoor's Sky Mirror sculpture at the Rockefeller Center.  Posted by Picasa

Escape tunnel

After a two-month break largely due to a pretty persistent cough I finally went out and took some pictures. This is a slightly modified version of a photo taken inside the Santo Stefano church in Bologna, it's a makeshift ventilation duct.

Portrait of the artist as a wooden wall

my modest contribution to the Bologna art fair: I framed a crevice behind one of the stands... a (completely ineffective) way to protest against exaggerated art prices? a way to point out the carelessness with which carpenters go about their work nowadays? me being silly again? Posted by Picasa

Bologna by night III

Another night shot of Bologna for a change... this one was taken with a pretty basic 1 mega pixel point-and-shoot camera; came out fairly decent anyway. That monolith in the middle houses the airconditioning of an underground parking lot... at least so they claim. My opinion is that it conceals the entrance to a parallel dimension inhabited entirely by giant, bearded Brussels sprouts... but who am I to blow against the icy wind of common sense?

A postcard from way back

a little later that same day I caught a glimpse of this famous skyscraper and took this little snapshot... transformed it to b/w afterwards to make it look like one of those "upscale" "artsy" postcards that usually cost a little more than their coloured counterparts...

Early morning stroll on 9th avenue

possibly the only advantage of being constantly jet-lagged is that you get so bored of lying in bed with a pounding headache and unable to read or do anything else that could vaguely require the use of your brain that you jump at the chance of going for a walk very early in the morning. so that's what I did... left my insanely cheesy hotel at around 7 to wander around the almost deserted streets of an extremely big apple that had just woken up to a pleasant autumn morning. this is what the corner of 9th avenue and 30somethingth street looked like on that beautiful morning of November 5, day of the marathon. Recollections I

This was taken with an analogue Canon SLR. The place: Vinci, Tuscany, Italy. The time: July 2002, probably around midnight. The people: Peter, my then-flatmate and my humble self.
I recall strolling around town after a marvellous dinner in some traditional trattoria in Leonardo's hometown.
Sigh...

glowing object I

try to figure out what it is if you've got too much time on your hands... currently on the cirrus minor stereo: Eve Future Recall by Kreidler, the legitimate heirs of Krautrock legends like Neu! and Cluster, minimal, beautiful pieces that have something architectural about them. Posted by Picasa

first steps

so this is all there is to it? you know when you've got some friends coming over and you take all the stuff that's lying around and cram it into your cupboard to give the impression you're not that much of a messy git after all? that definitely takes longer than opening a blog and writing your first post...
here we are in the picture above, in some future-retro-hybrid-fusion kind of way...

will report back as soon as we've thought of anything that's vaguely worth posting.

so long!
